Quality

The ultimate aim of the Quality Strategy (2010) is to deliver the highest quality of healthcare services to people in Scotland, the healthcare being consistently person-centred, clinically effective and safe, for every person all of the time.

It also connects patient priorities with the values of those working in the NHS in Scotland and notes that we must balance our drive for quality, productivity and efficiency with the support and development of our staff. Empowering staff to lead and drive improvements in quality of care in their communities, services, wards and departments.

Clinical teams in NHS Boards across Scotland are striving to improve standards of care for patients with MS following national standards such as the Neurological Health Services Clinical Standards published in October 2009.

Dr. Catherine Calderwood, Chief Medical Officer noted in the 2015 Scottish MS Register National Report Download the 2015 Scottish MS Register National Report in PDF format [1 Mb] that MS Register had an important role in helping us understand the epidemiology and incidence of MS across Scotland.
